Have just been reading the nras notes on Tai Chi for arthritis. The DvD is based on the programme run by Dr. Lam and is available for about £20.
Wondered if anyone has used it.
I fancy trying it out, but wondering how easy it will be to follow on DVD, don't want to get myself into too much of a tangle!
I know some of you do Tai Chi and find it helpful, any ideas welcome.
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend, welly weather here in mid Wales and gale force winds forcast for tonight!!
Keep safe and dry, Zena x.

Hi Zena - I've got one of Dr Lam's DVDs and it is quite easy to follow. He demonstrates the movements several times and he has 2 assistants who are a bit older so they have a more realistic look (if you know what I mean)

I've just checked on youtube and he has a free lesson which is 44mins long and very informative

Dr Lam introduction to tai chi

The thing about tai chi is that you start with simple basics and the real benefit comes from doing it regularly. Then if you want to you can take it further there's lots of levels. And for me the nice thing is that you can practice anywhere - you don't need special clothes or footwear - once you've memorised the first set of moves you can practice in your sitting room or garden or wherever you happen to be waiting for something!!!

Hi there,

Ive recently brought this dvd, and it really is simple to follow and very enjoyable!

So i would certainly recommend it BigGrin

Even my boyfriend joins in ( who is very fit and well) and enjoys it too, which is nice we get to share an activity together.

Delighted that there's another tai chi enthusiast on here - I love it - I've missed class since I started work as I've been too busy/tired but I'm planning on going tonight - Sylvia xx

Thankyou both,
I've just watched the introduction, video. It looks very good, clearly shown and repeated, think even I will be able to follow it!
Don't know why, imagined it to be along the lines of the old keep fit videos, never was able to keep up with those!
The movement exercises look very gentle, calming and stress relieving.
Will definately give it a try, will attempt to get into a routine of doing it regularly.
Just shown to to my OH, its on my xmas list.
